Genuine Hull Phone Numbers: Official 01482 Lines Checked

Updated 6 Nov 2026

If an 01482 number you don’t recognise has called you, the first question is usually simple: is this a real organisation, or a scam? Below are the main official Hull and East Riding numbers that people most often get calls from, checked against each organisation’s own published contact details.

If a number on this page called you, the call is probably genuine – but caller ID can be faked (“spoofed”). If the caller asks for money, bank details or a PIN, hang up and ring the organisation back on the number below.

Why a genuine organisation might show a different number

Large organisations have hundreds of internal lines. A call from the council or the hospital may show a direct-dial 01482 number rather than the main switchboard, or come from a withheld number. That doesn’t make it a scam – but it does mean you shouldn’t rely on the number alone.

How to check any caller in two minutes

  1. Don’t ring back the number that called you. Use the official number from the organisation’s own website or a letter you’ve received.
  2. Search the full number in quotes on Google, and check community report sites.
  3. Be wary of pressure. Genuine organisations won’t threaten you with immediate arrest, demand payment by gift card or bank transfer, or ask for your PIN.
  4. Read our guides to calls from Hull 01482 numbers and our latest scam alerts.
